With grants from The California Endowment and Kaiser Permanente Community Benefits Program, FHCAP is undertaking two projects engaging community stakeholders:
      • to increase access low-income populations and
      • to develop strategies addressing specialty shortages

FHCAP is establishing an Access to Care Task Force to address the goals of both projects.

This important Task Force will
      • help assess current safety net services
      • examine local, state and federal policies
      • design focus groups on use of services
      • identify barriers to care for patients
      • participate in discussions with local experts
      • develop strategies to address these issues
      • build a constituency to advocate for the strategies
      • advocate to implement the strategies

The Access to Care Task Force includes representatives from health plans, community advocates, funders, health care providers, policy analysts, government officials, patients, clients and FHCAP.  This provides the opportunity to work collaboratively to create community-based strategies that are realistic, effective and financially supportable to increase access to health services.

The Task Force will meet monthly in Fresno County. Staff support is provided by FHCAP and Joel Diringer, JD, MPH, a consultant with 20 years experience in the San Joaquin Valley.
