Fresno Healthy Communities Access Partners (FHCAP) is a five year old nonprofit organization consisting of eleven health care and community organizations working together to improve access to health care for medically underserved communities in Fresno and the San Joaquin Valley.

HCAP Vision Statement

The Fresno Healthy Communities Access Partners is envisioned to serve as a foundation for greater community cooperation to meet health needs. Through coordination and collaboration, implementation and resource allocation decisions can benefit the health care of all Fresno County residents.


HCAP Mission Statement

To ensure access to affordable and appropriate health care for the underserved populations of Fresno County and the San Joaquin Valley, focusing on enhancing insurance coverage and improving delivery systems. The corporation shall pursue these objectives through:
  • Pursuing opportunities for expanding health coverage for underserved populations;
  • Partnering with safety net and other health care delivery institutions to develop programs to improve access   to affordable and quality health care;
  • Exploring the use of technology to improve access to health care programs for underserved populations; and
  • Providing educational programs for the general public and health care professionals on how to improve access to affordable and quality health care for underserved individuals

The Community We Serve
 
Fresno HCAP is committed to serve the uninsured and underinsured populations of Fresno County and the San Joaquin Valley. These people are among the most underserved in the State of California.

In Fresno County alone more than 162,000 individuals including 31,000 children were without health insurance coverage as of a 2005 CHIS study.

In the entire San Joaquin Valley the number of uninsured reaches more than 550,000 individuals including 108,000 children.

Many in this population are minorities.
